PVC flooring and underfloor heating, a strong match
Vinyl and PVC conduct heat well, so your floor warms up quickly while using energy efficiently. Thin glue-down PVC and low-profile rigid click PVC transfer heat especially well. Do keep an eye on the total thermal resistance (Rc value) of your floor build-up: the lower it is, the more efficiently your underfloor heating works.
What to watch for with underfloor heating
- Choose a PVC floor that is explicitly suitable for underfloor heating
- Mind the total thermal resistance, ideally below the recommended limit
- Increase the temperature gradually after installation or gluing
- Preferably combine with a thin or heat-conductive underlay
- Waterproof, so also suitable for the kitchen and bathroom
