What is grey parquet?
Grey doesn’t occur naturally in wood, so grey parquet is always the result of a finish. Through liming, smoking or a grey oil or stain, the natural wood tone is turned grey, while the grain and structure of real wood stay visible and tactile. That gives you a modern, neutral floor that keeps the authenticity of wood while bringing the contemporary look of grey, from a subtly greyed oak to a deep, dramatic smoked effect.
The benefits of grey parquet
- Contemporary, neutral wood tone that fits any interior
- Combines the warmth of real wood with a modern grey look
- Light grey enlarges visually, dark grey adds character
- The authentic, tactile grain of wood is preserved
- Perfect for a modern, industrial or Scandinavian interior
- Stable engineered parquet is suitable for underfloor heating
Tip: grey is a finish, not a wood species
Because grey comes from a finish, that finish determines the final result. A lightly greyed or limed oak gives a soft, Scandinavian look; a smoked or dark-grey oiled parquet gives a stronger, industrial effect. With dark grey, note that dust and lint show up a little faster, as on any dark floor. Pair light grey with white walls for an airy whole, or dark grey with white joinery for a sleek contrast. For a natural, matte grey tone, go for an oiled finish.
